Slightly later to this than others. My overall score was not especially impressive (there were a number of things on the tip of my tongue that I just couldn't quite get to) but I did manage a full house on the classical music, all of which I thought were very good questions. A Child of Our Time is possibly my favourite piece of music! I would just draw you up on the Mahler 6 question - while he originally composed it with three hammer blows, he later took the third out and most performances have two, although Bernstein always put the third back in.
R1: 20/20 (although fly-half was an educated guess)
R2: 13/20 (which was about 10 more than I had expected to get)
R3: 5/20 (happy with that, definitely one of my bigger blind spots)
R4: 9/20
R5: 1/20 (MUNA, despite not being a huge fan of the song in question - Jenna also got Cailee Spaney but I'm not going to claim any credit for her answers)
20, 8, 8, 11 and zero (featuring 1, OK i have heard of and 19, wtaf). I guess I can take some solace in that, thanks to about the only topic I've been studying this year, the 8 would have been a 5 at the start of the year. But not much solace.
As someone who doesn't feel very "lifestyle"*, I've made peace with the fact it seems to suit my magpie tendencies as a quizzer. As a proud provincial, 11 on London is about right. Round 5 very tough - got Barranquilla, Mahalia Jackson and Pilotis (thanks to Private Eye for this last one). Got close to Astrophel and Stella, but not close enough; couldn't remember Slade in Flame despite reading a review of it last week, and will one day remember the Kondo Effect, which will doubtless spark joy in me, but not today alas.
R1: 20 (I know a drop will come at some stage, but thankfully not yet!)
R2: 13 (underperformed here by missing diabolo, anglepoise and bayonet, but that's part of what makes this such a useful exercise – hopefully I won't miss those when it matters more!)
R3: 8 (a fairly weak area; pleased to get Young)
R4: 15 (Boyega a guess that came off; Lynne seems a good one to learn)
R5: 0 (kicking myself on Dharmasena, otherwise clueless; consider the Anki deck swelled!)
Total: 56 (back down to earth after last week's PB)
Well written - and I hope you’ve recovered well from illness! Some terrible misses from me in this one, which was summed up by scrolling down to the answers of Round 4 before I could do a second pass, so kicked the answers in early. On the other hand, classical music is a very strong area for me, so was happy to 20 a lovely set.
1. 20 (took a while to remember fossil fuel lmao)
2. 12 (got better as we went on)
3. 20 (lucky guess on Rutter, rest were fairly comfortable)
4. 8 (pain)
2. 2 (got Fantomas and Kumar Dharmasena; managed to write Absalom and Achitophel for the Sidney before I knew what was happening and never recovered it)
Congrats again on the set - I look forward to next week.
R3: 9 (great questions and pleased with that score!)
R4: 13
R5: 1 (Spaeny, and 50/50ed to Cartagena instead of Barranquilla)
At the OQL written sets I have the more variance in Lifestyle between sets than any other subject - world cuisine is one of my favourite topics and I always try to ask about that, I like internet stuff too but found the general category of "French-derived words" quite difficult here
Just occasionally I recognise a slight benefit from years of family listening /viewing with the quizmaster although usually I still can’t remember the answer.
Nice one mum, and welcome to the party! I do try to bowl a friendly one for you and dad occasionally, but I certainly didn't think there were three of them in Round 5 so that's a brilliant showing. As you know, I've heard the term from Q15 countless times on It Takes Two and subsequently Sewing Bee, but writing that question gave me the opportunity to finally work out what it means.
Great job on R2 and R4 - neither of those are straightforward rounds at all. And the classical music round I suspect is the toughest R3 I've yet written (arguably too hard, although hopefully it's still interesting stuff that'll be worth remembering in the future). The NPNG round does what it says on the tin, so there's no shame in not knowing any of the answers; just twenty opportunities to learn something new. I'd have been lucky to get past 5 or 6 on the final round this week, and I wrote the questions!
Ahh well, hope you had fun nonetheless! Bad luck on the distribution not quite suiting you this week. After your R3 performances in previous weeks, I'm a little relieved to have finally discovered a Deeper Dive topic that you aren't already a master of! I suspect rounds 3 and 5 are going to play especially difficult this week, so even having a couple of near misses on both (which therefore might be gettable in a future quiz) is definitely cause for encouragement.

Forgot to comment my scores at the time, but:

Team Spicer:
R1: 20
R2: 16
R3: 6
R4: 12
R5: 2 (Pilotis and Slade in Flame. Had Tom from Celebs Go Dating and could picture him, but couldn’t remember his double-barrelled surname)
Total: 56
Great stuff, Jonathan, a nice set of questions. A feeble effort from me, however, I fear:
1. 17
2. 3
3. 2
4. 8
5. 0
1. 19 (Mouse, thought it was midge)
2. 9
3. 0
4. Disappointing 8, given I lived there for 7 years
5. 0
Tough R3 and 5, but interesting nonetheless.
How Does It Feel a tremendous record, quite agree. Lovely set of questions - thanks as always. My 14 year old daughter got UmU! :D
UwU - sorry!
47 again, but 20 in R1 again..

R1: 20 (finally!)
R2: 10
R3: 9 (great questions and pleased with that score!)
R4: 13
R5: 1 (Spaeny, and 50/50ed to Cartagena instead of Barranquilla)

Saw the Temple of Mithras some years ago and it was stunning!
Round 1- 17
Round 2 - 13
Round 3 - 3
Round 4 - 7
Round 5 - 3 (thanks for Q15)
Just occasionally I recognise a slight benefit from years of family listening /viewing with the quizmaster although usually I still can’t remember the answer.

Must have got there entirely on my own with the other two - Q1 and Q17.
Round 1 - 19/20 (Blindly went for Screenwipe without thinking of Black Mirror)
Round 2 - 13/20
Round 3 - 5/20
Round 4 - 12/20 (better than I expected for a non-Londoner)
Round 5 - 0/10 (yikes)

Cheers! By no means a classical music expert, but post-1900 is definitely less my bag than earlier stuff!
1. 20
2. 12
3. 4
4. 8
5. 1
Not my week (fair few in rounds 3 and 5 in particular that I should know)
